2023 Kelter Wines Chardonnay, Ricci Vineyard, Los Carneros - Award Winner
2025 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition - Silver Medal
The 2023 vintage in Northern California was outstanding for Chardonnay, thanks to a near-perfect growing season that saw balanced temperatures and ideal ripening conditions. A long, cool spring extended the growing period, allowing grapes to develop concentrated flavors without high sugar levels. As summer progressed, warm days and cool nights preserved acidity while nurturing the natural fruit character. This Chardonnay is full of fresh, vibrant flavors, with lively citrus, green apple, honeysuckle and pear notes complemented by bright acidity. The 2023 wines promise great age ability, showcasing a harmony of structure and depth.
Alc. 13.1% By Vol.
TA : 6.5 g/L, pH: 3.5
To achieve our goal, we whole-cluster-pressed the grapes, followed by an extended cold fermentation. This Chardonnay did not go through Malo-Lactic fermentation; instead, we achieved richness by aging it on its lees in stainless steel and neutral-french barrels. This method persevered all the wine's aromatics.
Because of the wine's delicacy, we only ship in the winter/spring month. Thank you, and enjoy our wines. Cheers.
